100 Things 1/100

Next month, I turn 50.

Knowing that the majority of you are far younger than I made that a surprisingly hard thing to type. I am not ashamed of my age nor do I hate aging (though I would love to have the body I had 20 years ago). What makes saying it difficult is the idea of being judged for...being too old, being uncool, being irrelevant, for being out of touch, for being whatever.

Still, I've decided the subject of my

{Take the 100 Things challenge!}

is going to be 100 Things Learned in 50 Years.

The first thing is probably the most important and, if you've followed me for any length of time, you already know I believe it...

Gratitude is the key to happiness.

Remembering to be grateful helps me to remember what is right, rather than focusing on what is wrong. And that is always a reminder of how very much there is to be grateful for, how very blessed I am.

I hope you're all well and happy.

As for me? My cup runneth over.

I love you and I think you're amazing, whatever age. You have more wisdom and grace than anyone else I know, barring perhaps my therapist. ;)

Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with the rest of us. You a re a gift.

My birthday is Thursday, so I'm not that much behind you.

I'm looking forward to learning what you've learned in your 50 yrs on this planet.

Wooo! Gotcha beat by a year, nearly two!

And I look forward to the rest of the blogs because you're right. Gratitude is the key. Being aware of how lucky, blessed and gifted we are in the moment makes living so much better!

I think you're very cool and relevant and in touch but then, I'm just a year behind you :-)

Hey, the only people who think you're uncool are too young to know what cool really is. ;)

I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes, from Spider and Jeanne Robinson's interesting Starmind:

He bowed and took her hand. "All my life I have wondered why other men prize young women."

"Perhaps," she suggested, "they do not feel they deserve the best."

*smishes you* Happy almost birthday to one of the awesomest women I know.

I am grateful for YOU - for walking into my life at a time where I needed to hear the things you are saying, in the strong, gentle way you say them. You are an absolute blessing and I am so glad - SO glad - to know you.

I have never ever thought of you as being too old, being uncool, being irrelevant, or being out of touch. Because you are awesome and we all love you and thank you for existing.

You are AWESOME and being almost 50 makes you even MORE awesome!

One thing I have tried to learn from you is gratitude. I don't think I've been a very good student, but I'm going to keep trying. Every time I see your "my cup runneth over" I am reminded of how much my own cup runneth over. *hugs*

Peshaw! I've had boyfriends who would still call you a "younger woman."

And as long as we keep the pact to never really grow up, we'll be fine!

50? That's forever!!

~hugs~ Just as long as you keep getting more awesome, we'll overlook it ;)
