100 Things 6/100

100 Things learned in 50 years...

Accept your hair.

I can cut it or color it or style it differently, but I am never going to be a natural blond with straight hair. I am a wavy-haired brunette; that is the hair reality. Accepting that is a tremendous relief; wishing it different is a waste of time and energy. Working with what IS instead of what I want it to be makes for a lot less frustration and fretting.

LOL! That is so true! Accepting your hair the way it is, is a big step in a womans growth.
I tried a lot too even a perm in the 90s. A PERM! How bad is that?
Very good entry!!!

I've had a perm, I've had it straightened, I've had it bleached and colored.

And it is a big step for a woman's growth.

How are you?

I think (and I've just figured it out) that accepting my hair is the first step toward self-acceptance.

I have cut my hair, grew it out, colored it, permed it etc etc. I finally decided to just leave it be about two years ago and I am pretty happy with that decision.

For the first time in my life, I love my hair.

I don't love my hair, I haven't made it that far. But I like the color even if I do occasionally envy other colors. Ever since the perm, my hair has changed....it has more poof/kink to it and I'm not a fan. But they say your hair changes every seven years, so maybe it will change and I'll come to love it lol

I gave up...because I just don't have enough vanity to truly give the shits it requires to keep up with dyeing my hair. I am gray and I am just going to accept it for what it is.

And I still have 1 rogue curl, but it appears to have switched sides. LOL
